    Proud to be a Sarawakian

I read a message from the Frienster's bulletin board regarding this topic, and I'm definitely very proud to be a Sarawakian. Well, this post is not written purposely to hurt anybody's heart, especially those Semenanjung's friends out there. But this will be something which is very interesting and I would like to have this opportunity to share with you all.

Once, I heard from 'somebody' that people from Semenanjung are curious to know whether the Sarawakian are still living on the top of the tree, wearing clothes made from leaves and hunt wild animals for food.

This treehouse you mean? I want! I want!

Worse asking whether Sarawakian are still head hunting. Wow! They must be kidding!!! That was hundred years ago laaa... haha!!! (They really hunt heads!)

    Heads, Heads...Lelong, lelong...Fresh, freshhh...

You might see the Rumah Panjang pictures in your Sejarah book back in Form 4 0r 5, tell you, now the Rumah Panjang was made from brick walls! I've been to Rumah Panjang few years ago and was stunned by it. It was made from bricks like normal terrace houses and when I went inside,Wow... the floor was tiled and the house was completed with air-cond and Astro!

    The NEW version Long House

Now, Sarawak is heading towards modernization and lots of rapid development can be seen nowadays. Just for your information, I can't see anymore differences between the Sarawak and Semenanjung. All the development in Semenanjung and Sarawak are equally planned and organized.

There's something I would like to show all of you which I got it from Friendster and I'm totally agree with these. Check it out!

    1. We have the second largest International airport in Malaysia. While others might not even have any. We have FIVE major airports, while others might not have one.
(This is true, few years ago there's a launching of the new Bintulu's airport - launched by our former PM Tun Dr. Mahathir. Then, it was followed by the launching of new Miri's airport and the upgraded Kuching's International Airport. It didn't take a long period to complete these projects.)

    Kuching International Airport

    Bintulu's Airport

    2. Car fuel is the cheapest here, and not to mention one of the largest petroleum source in Malaysia.
(I'm not sure about this. I thought the price was the same throughout Malaysia. Huhu!)

    3. We have two official cities, Kuching and Miri and soon Sibu, while other states might only have a town.
(Yeah, that's true! Miri is the non-capital city of the state in Malaysia which is labeled as 'Bandaraya'. I would like to invite all my Semenanjung friends to visit Miri so that you can see why Miri is labeled as Bandaraya. Sibu is waiting for its turn.)

    4. We are still the main reason why tourists come to Malaysia, for our Mulu Caves.
(Mulu Caves is the largest cave in the world. I forgot already how many Boeing 747 can fit in. But it is very big. However, Mulu caves is not the oldest cave in the world. But still we got one of the oldest cave in the world, which is Niah Caves which existed and been occupied by the natives people since the Paleolithic age! I've been there before and saw those old ancient drawings, they were still there!!! OMG! One of my friends got possessed during the visit! Spooky...)

Niah Cave, Moon Cave and Painted Cave
(You can see the paintings at the Painted Cave pic, there's a small boat below there if you realize
    - It was called the Boat of Death)

    5. Two out of the popular singers based at Taiwan are from Sarawak Nicholas Teo (Smiling Pasta) and Lin Yu Zhong.

(Both of them are very famous in Taiwan. You can ask any Chinese whether they know these singers, they will definitely know them!)

Nicholas Teo - Astro Singing Contest winner (Smilling Pasta) and Lin Yu Zhong

    6. The whole of Brunei island does not envy Malaysia, instead they envy Sarawak.

    7. The most air travelers in Malaysia are from Sarawak. Almost all Sarawakians have at least traveled once or twice with airplane, compared to the west Malaysians.
(This is totally true! Most of the Sarawakians have at least once traveled by air.)

    8. We have our own daily newspaper: namely Sarawak Tribune, Borneo Post and International Times.

    9. Everytime there's a reality show, our contestants always reach respectful levels .
(Akademi Fantasia - Amirul, Bob... and One in a Million)

    10. We live in harmony, not just with Malay, Indian and Chinese, but also with Iban , Bidayuh, Melanau, Kelabit etc.

(For those who are ignorant out there, Iban is another race that can be found mostly in Sarawak. Many people thought Sarawak people are generally called as Iban. How ignorant!!! The term Sarawak truly Asia is more like it.)

    11. First 'Amazing Race' ever was held in Kuching, Sarawak.

    12. Most of us Sarawakians speak at least 4 different languages.

(I speak 4 languages - English, Malay, Mandarin and Hokkien)

13 . MAS CEO (Idris Jala) from Sarawak and Sin Chiew daily news'(the biggest newspaper company in Malaysia) founder is from Sarawak.

    14. Sarawak Laksa!!!! Kolo Mee!!! Pian Mian Hu...Kompia...This is just to name a few examples! We have our own identity, our own popular food where no other places will have the same taste with ours.
(For those who haven't been to Sarawak must try Laksa Sarawak. It's a MUST!!! For non-Muslim you must try Kolo Mee and Pian Mian Hu.)

    15. We are one of the states with the largest and thickest jungle which produces valuables wood, while some others already become botak.

    16. Our air water is among the cleanest in Malaysia, and we don't even really need any water purifier.

Actually, I'm very happy and proud when there's a documentary about Sarawak which they showed the Sarawak's natives culture to everybody. But I could not accept a person's thinking on the lifestyle of the people in Sarawak after they watch the documentary. It is because most of the documentary are made in the kampung area where the natives people stay. The documentary might showed their 'unique' lifestyle but it doesn't mean that all Sarawakian live like that everyday. NO! That's only in kampung are only.

That's all. Feel like promoting Sarawak. Haha! To all my Semenanjung friends out there, you should at least once visit Sarawak coz there're lots of things you must see and enjoy, that's including pretty girls around here...hehehe...

    Sarawak is RICH.

Don't you dare to find the similarity of me and the Orang Utan. There is NONE.
    Damn it!
